With the support of Sociedade Ponto Verde, the initiative is aimed at commercial establishments

Resinorte has just launched the “From hand to hand to the glass bin” campaign, an initiative developed with the support of Sociedade Ponto Verde, which aims to boost the recycling of glass packaging in the HORECA sector (hotels, restaurants and cafés).
The campaign comes at a time when Portugal is seeking to increase glass recycling rates and meet the European target of 75% recycling of this material by 2030. Through this initiative, Resinorte aims to raise awareness among commercial establishments about the correct separation of glass packaging and to facilitate its disposal by implementing, on the ground, solutions tailored to their needs.
The initiative aims to reach 500 commercial establishments in the municipalities of Vila Nova de Famalicão, Guimarães, Fafe, Vizela, Santo Tirso and Trofa.
In the first phase, awareness-raising teams will carry out door-to-door visits to the establishments involved, distributing information materials, answering queries and identifying those wishing to join the project.
Subsequently, 120-litre containers will be delivered to participating businesses and new assisted glass-dumping bins will be installed, designed for the mechanical disposal of large quantities of glass. This solution simplifies the disposal process, reduces the physical strain on workers and increases the amount of glass sent for recycling.

According to Rui Silva, Managing Director of Resinorte, “Glass recycling in the HORECA sector plays a key strategic role in helping us meet European targets. Our commitment is to simplify the day-to-day work of professionals in the sector, ensuring that glass is correctly channelled for recycling and actively contributing to the strengthening of the circular economy, since, together, businesses, citizens and organisations, we can achieve the impossible”.
